Where will I live?Remember where you live is just as important as what you study.
Traditionally, first year students stay in halls. It is a great way to make friends, as you are all in the same situation. Check out what accommodation is available when you apply.
Are you a good cook? Well you could become one if you are sharing a self-catered flat in a halls of residence. Self-catered halls are cheaper, but you are in charge of your own food. For a little more money you could live in catered halls, where your meals are provided as part of your rent. These are normally served at set times in the university restaurants.
The advantages of hallsStaying in halls is a great way to meet lots of people, plus you get the added feeling of security in your first year away from home and of course you won't have to spend time house hunting. However if you would prefer to live elsewhere most universities will help you find privately rented accommodation, just contact the housing office.
You can also choose to rent a room (or lodge) with a family within the community, but most students prefer to rent a house and share it with all their friends.
