I chose to go to university in order to help farther my education. I also wanted to get the “student experience” and gain my own independence in preparation for life ahead.
I visited lots of different universities and found out what they had to offer. I looked at the courses they did and also the social activities they catered for, like sports clubs and societies.
I chose an area that really interested me as I knew I would have to be dedicated to it. I did lots of research into what would be expected and then chose to study law.
I am in university for around 12 hours a week, but have to do lots of independent study in my own time as well. I go to lectures and seminars and learn about lots of different things varying from criminal law (about murders and robberies!) to the business side which involves learning about employment and project management.
When I leave university I hope to become a solicitor and one day run my own business!
I really enjoy the social side of university. There’s a lot to get involved in and there is always something fun to do, to help take the pressure off of the work aspect of university.
The transition was fairly simple as I had lots of help from my teachers and university staff. Both sides were always ready to give advice and support when I needed it. I really enjoyed moving away from home as I got to experience life in a new city and meet lots of new friends.
I would suggest for you to do lots of research and enquires into universities and what they offer. Find out what courses they do and you may find a really interesting one that grabs you and you want to enroll on. Don’t be scared yo ask for advice from you teachers, family and friends as well.
