Why did you choose to go to university?

I’ve always wanted to continue my studies and specialise my knowledge so University was the path that would lead me to a successful career.

How did you choose which university to attend?

I chose England as here you can find one of the best educational systems and Portsmouth because of the course and options.

How did you decide which subject area to study?

I’ve always liked languages and thought that it would be good expanding my studies in this area and choose a degree that would give me a wide range of options.

What does your course involve?

Mainly languages, but it gives you the opportunity to get a taste of other areas as well, like marketing and teaching.

What do you hope to do when you leave university?

I’d like to pursue a career in marketing that will involve education as well.

What are the best bits about university for you?

How did you find the transition from college to university? What help did you receive? If you moved away from home, how did you find it?

I found it easy as university was purely my choice and it was exactly what I was looking for. Since I come from Greece I did move far away form home but although it was a bit scary, the university provided me with all the support I needed; halls of residence, international office, academic and skills support.

What advice would you give to UP for It members who are not sure whether they want to go to university?

Personally I believe that being a university student is an experience that you will never forget and I would definitely recommend it to anyone. It is the only way to study something that you really like and get good qualifications and experience for your life and career. University really broadens your horizons!
