Why did you choose to go to university?

To increase my knowledge in IT and gain knowledge in other areas of study. I also know that going to university will give me better opportunities for my career.

How did you choose which university to attend?

The University of Portsmouth had some representatives that came in to market the University. I was convinced by the semesters held in Lagos and so chose to come to Portsmouth.

How did you decide which subject area to study?

I always liked IT from a young age and knew this was an area I wanted to go into.

What does your course involve?

Computing as a course involves the development of hardware and software. It gives students the opportunity to analyse and design programs. It is a flexible and really interesting course.

What do you hope to do when you leave university?

I hope to work in an IT firm such as IBM or Microsoft.

What are the best bits about university for you?

I love the flexibility in my course and the different learning areas. University has made me very independent and it has built my confidence in the area of presentation skills and writing essays.

How did you find the transition from college to university? What help did you receive? If you moved away from home, how did you find it?

I found it quite easy because I was sure I was making the right decision about moving to Portsmouth.

What advice would you give to UP for It members who are not sure whether they want to go to university?

I would suggest that they make the effort to research into University. From my experience, University builds your confidence and makes you ready for the world of work.
