I design and produce all graphical aspects of the business, from designing adverts and Christmas cards, to mugs and brochures. I also design and build websites for a variety of external clients.
My job allows me to be creative and express myself through my work. There is nothing better than starting with a blank canvas, having a new idea and then turning that idea into an impressive design.
Having to work to tight deadlines and constantly prioritise my workload to try and meet expectations and keep everybody happy.
None, I started this role a couple of months after leaving university.
It has given me confidence within the working environment and provided me with a grounding knowledge in web development, project management and crucially, time management. My degree also helped me get the job in the first place!
Graphic design is all about practise and developing the designers 'eye', so spend some time practising designing flyers, Christmas cards, posters; anything you can. Try to look at the graphics you see in everyday life - on the web, in magazines, and on television from a critical point of view, thinking about which parts you like and which you don't.
On the web design side, don't be afraid to teach yourself the skills you need. Most of my knowledge is self taught. The internet is a great source for information, tutorials, tips and help and best of all it's free to learn.
