The world is full of different people, all with different lives, interests, ideas and beliefs. What people believe shapes their lives and when lives are shaped, so are whole countries and civilisations. In fact, there are over four billion people in the world who are directly involved in major religions. So religion has a strong impact on the world and those who live in it. What one person believes, another may not. Have you ever wondered why are we here, or if reality is an illusion, or if there is life after death? If you have, you may be interested in exploring the kind of answers that have, over the centuries, been given to these questions.
Being interested in religion doesn't mean that you have to be religious; you just have to be interested in people. Studying religion will help you to understand why people think and behave the way they do. It will also give you an insight into issues such as war, peace, freedom, good and evil.
As well as working in a church as a minister, there are many careers that someone who is interested in religion could follow.
Charities are like other businesses in that they employ people to help them get things done. Once you begin to look at the various charities and the type of job that will suit you, you will be surprised and encouraged by the range of job descriptions and job titles that are available. Key roles would be fundraiser, project manager, finance or office worker and public relations officer. Many of the jobs are office related, but it may involve working in the UK or travelling abroad.
